East Durham Play Community Network promotes quality Childcare and play opportunities and is a member of National Association of Toy and Leisure Libraries, (NATLL)
A toy library is somewhere your child can enjoy playing with an exciting choice of quality toys, suitable for his/her age groupand stages of development . Parents/carers have the opportunity to socialise with others to seek advice, information and support from an experienced toy librarian who'll be able to advise you on the best toys for your child's stage of development. At the end of the session you can borrow toys to take home with you exchanging them for others on your next visit.Toy Library Rules and policies are in place.
The Organisation offers

A wide range of good quality educational toys to loan.

Toys for ages 0 - 8 years.

A selection of toys are adaptable for children with special needs.

Members can borrow toys for a week or up to one month.
Code Of Practice

All toys are allowed out for one week or up to four full weeks.

Toys are only allowed out on concurrent sessions if no other member is waiting for a toy.

Two toys per family may be borrowed.
-
Please make sure that all toys are clean when they are returned and report all damages or items missing.

Please do not worry, accidents do happen.

The management reserves the right to cancel or refuse membership at their discretion.

The East Durham Play & Community Network and The National Association of Toy & Leisure Libraries have organised a FREE TRAINING EVENT “REACHING OUT”
Aims of the training:
To identify reasons why Toy Libraries and other local service providers find some families hard to reach .
This new one-day course will look at considering the role of Toy Libraries, Acknowledging reasons for isolation/non access to services, identifying strategies for Toy Libraries reaching out to families.
Main Audience - Toy Library workers, volunteers, anyone working in the childcare sector, sure start, playgroups, nurseries, early years officers.
